if you switch the 's' and 'p' in "sarah palin," you get parah salin, which = parasailing.

hahhahaaha that never fails to amuse me (8

hanauma bay

so i took about 1000 pictures in hawaii and one blog post on my entire experience would be incredibly long.
so instead i will be splitting them up into several entries.

snorkeling for the first time
it's both magical and terrifying.
it is quite eerie being alone among the coral and fish, with the only thing you can hear being the sound of your breathing.
at least until some other snorkeler comes along and kicks you in the face with one of their flippers.

15 years young.

i think the only reason taylor swift titled her song "Fifteen" instead of "Fourteen" was because the word Fifteen just sounds better in concluding a chorus.
after all, who starts high school at fifteen? (you have to have heard the song & listened to the lyrics to understand my point.)
only people who get held back.
i mean, i was 13 for my first half of freshman year.

anyways, things were very mellow this year.
people i thought would be there kinda let me down, and then people who i didn't really expect anything from kinda came through.

this was my first birthday, probably in my entire life so far, that i was able to spend however i wanted.
and i realized that i would've rather been at a mandatory basketball game, or australia, or italy, or china, or egypt, or all the other places i have spent my past birthdays at
because at least then i didn't have any expectations
and no one let me down.

tired

physically tired
just got home from hawaii and the only things i see in my near future are endless unpacking, photo editing, and winter assignments.

emotionally tired
of getting my hopes up for a nice christmas, or a nice birthday, or a nice new years
i don't know why i bother.

messenger bird's song.

(note: i didn't take this. if it isn't blatantly obvious that i am not nearly skilled enough ha)

you're bored of cheering me up.
bored of calming me down.
bored of drying my eyes.
but there once was a time when you were the one.
you were the blue of the sky, you came after the storm.
you were the switch on the wall,
in the dark of the hall,
i'm still fumbling for.

obey sample sale.
no mirrors (i don't even know if you're allowed to try things on) but i didn't want to buy a dress without seeing how it looked! my bunching it at my waist with my hands was due to not having a belt :P

flooood

mitsuwa! home of adorable over-priced asian goods.

bike racks @ the lab.

disposable raincoat.
yes, that's a trash bag...how embarrassing.

modelesque figure?
man, store mirrors are so deceiving :(

i never thought i would say this,

but i think i'm sick of sarcasm.

because it is seriously incredibly difficult to find someone that can discern sarcastic comments from serious ones.

if you are one of the rare few, please come have a conversation with me. one filled with sarcasm and mutual understanding. it would be a nice change.

now i know i've got a heart, because it's breaking.

- tin man, wizard of oz.

you're not the person i thought you were.

Dec 10, 2009

pour me a heavy dose of atmosphere

i can't decide whether i like the rain or not.

pros: washing everything away. the feeling of cleansing. gloominess. the perfect backdrop to a warm day spent at home with hot cocoa and a good book.

cons: a horrible backdrop to a cold day at school spent dashing from class to class trying not to get completely drenched.
oh, and wet socks/shoes. shudder.

now, you might think that walking around barefoot in the puddles is completely disgusting.
and it probably is
but if i must have wet feet, i would rather go about it without shoes and socks sticking to them. because i haaateeeee that feeling.

to each his or her own, i suppose.

Dec 5, 2009

just another saturday

homework day tomorrow...ugh.

*warning:
the following post is extremely long. leave while you can.
also, the photo quality in this entry sucks. i brought my compact camera around today because it's much less cumbersome :P
thus: unfocused, blurry pictures.

the PLAN (practice ACT) test was this morning from 9-12.
time limits are so stressful; i probably bombed the science portion of the test. i mean, who can process 30 questions' worth of information on things such as pollutants and their effect on daphnia and celiodaphnia growth/offspring in 25 minutes?
the english/reading and math sections were easy though.
hooray. it's comforting knowing that i at least have grammar and arithmetic to fall back on while i continue to discover my various shortcomings.

afterwards we headed over to yuri's house for lunch, and then to the second harvest food bank for volunteer work. it was supposedly a key club event, but it ended up just being yuri, ellen, diona, and me.
it was actually really nice though. i felt productive. ellen & i mainly worked on taking apart boxes (recycling purposes), while diona & yuri constructed new ones for the assembly line of other volunteers.

yuri should be in the picture but she left a bit early and i didn't have my camera with me because we left our bags in the office :/

in-n-out afterwards.

ellen and i then proceeded to go to tj maxx and take silly cliche camera-whore-esque pictures of ourselves.

they have some good selections though.
shoe lust. omg. i wish i could wear heels :P
too bad they're basically knee suicide.

i was going to get the middle pair to match with my dress for winter formal but i doubt i will have a date and there isn't really a point to wearing heels if i don't, since i won't be taking one of those professional couple picture thingies & i'll be changing to sneakers anyway to walk around the park in. (woodbridge's wf is held at knotts every year!)

anyways.
their furniture section is to die for.
i was seriously so excited. excited enough to walk around for about an hour and a half just exploring the aisles of centerpieces, [fake] plants, pots, globes, frames, artwork, couches/chairs, drawers, etc etc etc., instead of giving my knee a much-needed rest. (i'm icing it as we speak.)

they had various santas throughout the store. whether they were for display or for sale remains unknown...i wonder who would buy a life-size santa.

then we went to target! but the starbucks in it ran out of peppermint mocha :( and i've seriously been craving a peppermint mocha frapp for a few days now.
got some sweatpants. and a kingsize peanut m&m package. 480 calories, which i consumed in about 20 minutes. yum.

HAHAH guys' underwear section.

and thus concludes my longest entry ever, and also my first what-i-did-today entry. (although it actually should be what-i-did-yesterday, since it's 1 AM now.)
these things are exhausting.
